The protagonist of this epic is Lee Su Mei. Like many in the little red dot, Su Mei adopted the name, "Lindsie", which involves no religion or blond hair. On this little island, given names are things of the past. Therefore, in order to keep our Su Mei in the 'Now', Su Mei is Lindsie. I mean, it does not really matter; a name is a name, given or adopted.
However, there are exceptions whereby situations demean a name. For example, someone in Lindsie's workplace is "Minzie" (who looks nothing like Lindsie). Somehow, cats caught the tongues in the office, no one could pronounce 'Lind' but 'Min'. Oh, how so very mean! Slowly and eventually, her exisistence reduced to a mere surname, Lee.
No name. Just Lee.
